Becky Ibbotson – Schools’ Children’s Worker

All About Me…
For the last year I have been employed by Elim Ryedale Church as the Schools’ Children’s Worker. I am based at Hope Central and my role involves looking after the children of Primary School age. To summarise this in a few lines is a little difficult but in a nutshell…I take school assemblies, run after-school Bible Clubs, produce Holiday Events at Hope Central, offer special events to support the School RE Curriculum and organise G-Force at Church.

As you can see, although there are never two days the same, every day is both a joy and a privilege as I encounter each child’s individual personality. I live locally, I love chocolate as it is an essential tool for anyone working with children and both my husband and my two grown-up daughters think I could do with a bit more ‘growing-up’ myself. Life is fun!

Becky’s Blog

It has been good to wait and listen to God this last month and we believe that God has a great year ahead for the children’s work. We believe the time is right to start an evening club for 7-11 year olds, as of yet we do not know the details of this, but please pray that doors will open and opportunities will arise so this will be possible.

This term sees our Bible Clubs in Norton and West Heslerton continuing and a new one starting at Settrington. So far we have had assemblies in Kirkbymoorside, Luttons, Amotherby and Settrington and we will shortly be going into St Joseph’s, Pickering, and Pickering Infants.

This month, G-Force will see Lesley and the team finish off the e100 stories with the chil- dren. This Sunday, 29th January, will be Sue’s last day as part of G-Force and the children’s work in schools; she is concentrating her expertise and energy in helping Mel with the Youth. The team and the children will miss her on a Sunday but God has great things for her with our young people.

Thank you Sue for everything!

G-Force

Lesley, Pauline, Kala and Phil will be running G-Force this month and will be looking at the books of James and Revelations.

Work in Primary Schools

Recent schools that we have worked with include Malton CP School, Norton CP School, Terrington CE Primary School, Foston CE Primary School, Luttons Primary School, Settrington CE Primary School and Kirkbymoorside CP School. Work in schools is expanding rapidly and is an essential part ot forging links with the community.

G-Force

G-Force is a growing church for children of School Years 1-6 but this is no ordinary church! Children are encouraged to grow in their knowledge of God, discover their individual giftings and recognise they’re never too young to be used for God’s purpose. We do this in an interactive, encouraging and fun way through song, role-play, crafts and games. We meet during our Morning Service at Norton College; the service starts at 10am and the children leave the main service for G-Force at approximately 11:10am.
